Sebastian Bauer joins our group as a postdoctoral research associate. Sebastian received the B.S. (2010), M.S. (2012) and PhD (2018) in electrical engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany, where he focused on hyperspectral reflectance and fluorescence image aquisition, as well as hyperspectral image analysis. Under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Velten, Sebastian investigates new methods of computational imaging listening to and using the story that each photon has to tell.

Jingyao Wu joins our group as a visiting researcher. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Xidian University, Xian, China in 2015. Jingyao is currently a PhD student at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. His research interest is in computational imaging.

Toan Le is our new PhD student. Toan received the B.A. degree in physics and finance from Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL. His previous research involved using optical trap to manipulate micro and nano-particles and his research interest include optics and condensed matters. Toan is currently working with Dr. Andreas Velten in projects using transient time-of-flight to image through different scattering evironments.

Hamzah Khan and Jonathan Jackson will be part of our group for the summer term. Hamzah is an undergraduate Physics and Pre-Engineering (Materials Science) student at Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL). Jonathan is an undergraduate Physics student at University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley, CA) and has been already part of our group during last summer.

Xiaochun Liu, graduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department here at University of Wisconsin - Madison, joins our group. Xiaochun received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Changchun University of Science and Technology, Changchun, China in 2016. His undergraduate research topic was ``Super Resolution of Light Field Camera''. Furthermore, he founded a tech company in China called ``Yullion Studio'' and worked as CEO from 2014 to 2016. Xiaochun's research interests include computational imaging and computational photography. In his spare time, he likes coding, jogging and singing.

We welcome Syed Azer Reza as our new group Assistant Scientist. Azer received his M.S. and Ph.D. in optics from the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL) at the University of Central Florida in 2008 and 2010 respectively. His doctoral studies revolved around the development of systems and modules for optical signal processing and sensing using optical MEMS and adaptive optics. Prior to joining CREOL, he received a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany in 2005 and a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, Pakistan in 2003. From 2010 to 2012, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Physics, University of Florida, where he was part of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna GW detector team. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan until 2017.

The Computational group is growing! We welcome Atul Ingle as our new postdoctoral research associate. Atul received the B. Tech. in electronics engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, India, in 2009 and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. In 2013 and 2014, he was a visiting R&D engineer at Philips Healthcare Ultrasound in Andover, MA. Prior to joining the computational optics laboratory he was a research scientist at Fitbit, Inc. in Boston, MA. His research interests include statistical signal processing and optimization and its applications to inverse problems in medical image reconstruction.

Marco La Manna is joining the group as a postdoctoral research associate. Marco received the B.S. and the M.S. degrees in telecommunication engineering both from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy in 2008 and 2011, respectively. In 2011, he was a Visiting Scholar in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI, developing research on signal processing applied to radars. In July 2016, he received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University. His research interests include digital signal and image processing, waveform design and computational imaging.

Fiona Kine and Ji-Hyun Nam are our new research intern and graduate student, respectively. Fiona received her B.S. degree in Material Sciences from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, in 2016. Ji-Hyun receiveived the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering both from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow, Russia in 2014 and 2016, respectively. At the University of Wisconsin - Madison, he is a graduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, specializing in communications and signal processing.

December 1st, 2015

Eric Breitbach has joined the group as a research intern. In 2008, Eric received his B.S. from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI where he had research interests in both nuclear physics as well as microscale magnetic domain wall interactions. In 2015, Eric received his M.S. from the University of Maine where he studied super resolution microscopy (FPALM) as well as used fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to analyse photophysical properties of fluorescent and photoactivatable dyes and proteins.
